Today's assignment was to help represent the library at the city's Fourth of July Parade. The committee did a fantastic job representing the summer reading program theme "Oceans of Possibilities." Our float was a yellow submarine with bubbles coming out of the back. There was an ocean, island life-themed music, and we passed out Swedish fish candy. It was a really hot, sweaty time, but it was so fun to participate in the parade. The community would get so excited to see our float, and we felt like rockstars as they yelled out, "We love the library." When we passed the grandstand, they reminded the crowd that the new library would open in early 2023. This, of course, made the crowd very excited.
It was great to see the diversity in the community that was being represented by the floats. As hot as it was, it was an amazing experience to be able to represent the library.
